Relationships take time...plain and simple.
The more time we spend together, the more we get to know each other...it's a fact.
It is time to spend time with each other.
As leaders at LIFE Fellowship I want you to know we believe in you, we trust you, and have empowered you to lead your group in a way that will create the healthiest environment to gather, to grow, and to go around the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Truth is, when groups only can get together once or twice a month it is a real challenge for solid community or commitment to really take hold. I believe with with all my heart that if a group is going to connect at the deepest level and get beyond just "another study' than we must spend time together. We must share our lives together. We must pray together. We must laugh together. We must grow together. We must serve together.
As a church leadership team we have made a very conscious decision to pour the majority of our energy into small groups. Groups for adults, both couples and singles, and groups for our StudentLIFE ministry. In order for these groups to be the healthiest expression of Biblical community we believe they must meet and meet often. It's not enough to gather just twice a month, it's a challenge for deep authenticity and trust.
Beginning this fall, we are allowing you as leaders to determine your gathering schedule for your group. No more 1 & 3 weeks and 2 & 4 weeks. If your group is lacking enthusiasm, commitment, energy, or another element, I would suggest gathering more often and gathering with intentionality.
Here is a quick example...Meet 3 times per month, two of those can be very intentional around a study or prayer. the third gathering could be at Tenders or Moe's, whatever you do, don't ever cancel, it's not fair to those who have made it a priority and it can be a very intentional time of connecting and bonding...
You create the calendar based on the needs of your group, but get creative and think outside the box.
Bottom line...Get together and get together often. Don't cancel. Hold to your schedule. Build Community
